Recently I'm asked often to teach people how to make BJDs. So I decided to put all the info in one place so I could give only one link.

BJD (Ball-jointed doll) is a complex creation that consists of many parts and is strung with elastic. The joints are based on the balls (spheres) mostly or on their modifications. Good BJD in my opinion is not only properly stylized but also has a well thought-out jointing system that allows to hold a wide range of poses. Every type of joint serves a certain purpose.

BJD construction requires a lot of research: trial and error or usage of free knowledge from the open sources. So here the links list goes:

* Aimi-doll, a very good tutorial in Japanese: making a BJD from the scratch. [link]
Many artists started from there, me included. I use this method of sculpting the head while making realistic BJD heads that have a real or 3D prototype.
You may use Google translate to understand the text but the pictures are pretty self-explanatory.

* The Joint - a forum for BJD artists. [link]
Lots of info here. And you can always ask for advice there, to put the progress pics for critique, etc.

* Twigling's research on the jointing system, the most thorough source on the matter I know. [link]

With these three sources you may start already.

Also I created some BJD-related tutorials:

Brushes for makeup: [link]
Teeth painting: [link]

Wig making: [link]

* Some notes on the material.
You may choose any material for BJD prototype making, even plasticine, but if you want to make a playable BJD it should be durable enough. It could be baking clays like Sculpey, epoxy putties like Apoxie Sculpt or Milliput, or polyurethane resin. Nobody can tell you which medium is better because the matter is highly subjective and depends on your style of work. I can't stand baking clays but love Apoxie to bits. Other people's experience could be the opposite. And there is no right or wrong!
My collaboration with JPop started, and I proudly present my mouse to you! The first release is of LE50, in light tan skintone. The preorder will be closed on March, 31th.

If you have any questions please ask me in the comments.
Let me introduce my new site where my BJD dolls will be shown: WGRASS.ORG [link]. I'll continue posting most of the photos on my dA account here, the site should serve as a portfolio mostly, and also a news about my dolls will be placed there.

I also decided to open a preorder for Thomas heads, the terms, prices and other info is here: [link]

Preorder will be opened till November 2nd but I reserve a right to extend the dates if there is a demand.

If you have any questions please ask me in the comments.
I'm so amazed by the popularity of my Avenger Olympic series, never expected such a resonance! They spread all over the Internet in a few days, like a plaque! Many of you came here, faved and commented the pieces, there are also features of the series on a different sites.

I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you who liked my pictures so much! You motivate me strongly and raise my spirit, and your support is so valuable for me!
Finally I put the patterns I made for my BJD dolls together. Please check them out in a dedicated folder: [link]
I also added a measurements of my dolls there so you could decide if the clothes fit and how much adjustments are needed.
I don't draw often now, and this is a great pain because I WANT to draw and to improve my skills but other projects take all my time. I have a lots of old pictures created 10 or more years ago though, and I still like many of them. So I decided to post my old art here. There are lots of characters from my novel "The dawn over Scargeear". Enjoy!
Please check a newly created BJD forum: [link]
They have no aesthetic restrictions, they allow constructive criticism & suggestions, they welcome BJDs, Dollfie Dream, Obitsu, Azone, etc. Monster High is pending now but you may vote for them! I love overall forum look and the range of functionality it has.
So I made an account here.
You might have noticed that I like to post tutorials on crafting. I prefer to compose tutorials on stuff that is hard to find on the net or based on some know-hows like making dollie boots or painting teeth etc. but there are still a plenty of not covered topics.
So I'd like to ask you: what tutorials could be useful to you, considering content of my gallery? Please write your suggestions, and I will think about them.
Tuts I already have are located in this folder: [link]
There were a changes to the policy on offtopic dolls on Den of Angels recently, so moderators kindly removed some threads with Simon that were present on the forum for about 1,5 years. As you may know I sculpted his head, and it's made out of Apoxie Sculpt entirely. So it makes him offtopic there.

Removed thread on making Sephiroth's cosplay contained a lots of useful info and explanations on making the costume. I thought it would be a good reason to move my tutorials here too, so I can control the content better. More, Deviantart is an open portal, and everybody will see the info I provide, no need to go through a complicated registration process on Den of Angels.

I will be posting some tutors on making accessories for BJD and other BJD related info. The first tutor will be on making BJD boots. I have an experience on making human-size boots in the past (see my Leather, woodwork, epoxy sculptures section), and I also have a magister degree in organization of shoemaking industry. This tutorial accumulated many information from different sources and my own experience and how-tos.
From time to time people ask me if I do commissions or not (faceups, clothes, even casting Manuna mouse in resin). I'm very sorry, guys, but I have no time to offer commissions at the moment as I value my time very high. More, Paypal in Ukraine lets only sending money but not receiving. This makes the process of payment uncomfortable for both buyer and me and is unsafe, to be honest.
