Loki the Norse God - 01 by scargeear Loki the Norse God - 01 by scargeear
I love not only Thor and Avengers movies but also Norse myths a lot. So I decided to make a viking costume for my Loki. As he is the God of Fire I chose reds, oranges and yellows for the costume.

Materials used: linen, wool and cotton fabrics, natural leather and suede, embroidery is done by hand, metal pieces are made of copper and oxidized with 'liver of sulfur' patina.
A set of Elder Futhark runes is a nice addition to the set.

Reconstruction of the costume from Mammen, Denmark, was chosen as a main reference, and I used a lot of other sources on the viking clothes of X-XI centuries.

Loki is Whispering Grass Thomas head on Soom Supergem body. The head is sculpted by me.

Until his hair is red this is Marvel Loki and not Norse Loki

Ooookay, this is Marvel Loki Norse God, that's better?)
Actually Loki's hair color is mentioned nowhere in both Eddas, it's a later addition.

I just love these clothes! I especially like the shoes

Though I can't help but mention; Loki being the God of Fire is just a theory. Some believe he's the Fire God, because Loki's name sounds a lot like 'Logi' (or Loge/Luge), who appeared in one of the myths. Logi is a fire jotunn, and is the personification of fire. Loki and Logi had an eating contest, which Logi ultimately won, because no matter how fast Loki ate he just couldn't beat fire.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lecture you, but I'm just a huge sucker for Norse Mythology ~ (Fire God or not, red looks incredibly good on him!)

Thank you very much!
I'm familiar with both Eddas 'cause I did my research too, and this certain myth has a very interesting interpretations, one of them talks about fighting their own fears and weaknesses (I mean Loki, Thor and Tjalvi). So it's surely a deep parable with a lot of meanings.

I love that myth ~
Though my favorite one is the one where Loki cuts off Sif's hair, and he eventually turns his mischief into the benefit of the other gods. Although it doesn't turn out favoribly for Loki in the end, having his mouth sewn shut and all - I feel that he both deserved to be punished and to be rewarded

I think the same when talking about the story with Sif's hair and the gnomes
